Polyglycolic Acid suture(PGA)
Product Categories:Absorbable Sutures
Product Description
Polyglycolic Acid Suture / PGA
Synthetic Absorbable Suture U.S.P (Sterilized Surgical Needled Suture)
Polyglycolic Acid Suture is an absorbable, sterile, synthetic surgical suture and it was the first Synthetic Absorbable Suture introduced in early 1970s. PGA Sutures are braided and coated composed of polymers made from 100% Homo-Polymer of glycolide. PGA sutures are coated with the equal parts of Polycaprolactone and calcium stearate.
Polyglycolic Acid is dyed with FDA approved dye D and C violet, it is also available in Undyed and meets all the requirements as per the United States Pharmacopeia for Synthetic Absorbable Suture.
In-house needle manufacturing provides the better needles with optimum sharpness which is finally delivers smooth riding on tissue during suturing.
Indications of PGA Suture:
The suture has a high initial tensile strength. 70% of the original tensile strength is retained upto two weeks after surgery, 50% of the original tensile strength is retained at the end of three weeks post implantation.
In general, the suture is completely absorbed after about 60-90 days and the absorption of different tissues are slightly different.
✔ Properties: Good flexibility, Reliable knot security, Smooth passage through tissue provides no trauma, High tensile strength.
✔ PGA Sutures are used in general surgery, gynecological, soft tissue approximation, including use in ophthalmic procedures. It is not used for cardiovascular and neurological procedures.
